Coffee Chat: Library Safety; Combating Harassment & Fostering Empowerment

We all have a story about an unsettling patron experience. Whether it is a persistent request for personal information, unrequited romantic interest, or physical discomfort, it’s hard to know how to manage feeling unsafe at work. 

Join Ms. Chrissy, Youth and Community Services Associate Director at the
Southwest Harbor Public Library, who will discuss strategies for addressing and
responding to unwanted attention, sexual harassment, and related concerns
in the library workplace. Her presentation will offer practical tools for
responding to challenging, inappropriate, and often flabbergasting comments
from patrons as well as tips on how management can support staff who are
facing these issues and dealing with related challenges.
