Financial Aid

In order to support Maine Residents who are furthering their library education or professional development, the Maine Library Association maintains the Phyllis E. Ainsworth Scholarship, an interest free loan program and supports grants for membership and conference attendance. 

Phyllis E. Ainsworth Scholarship

A $2,000 scholarship available to Maine residents who are pursuing a degree in library science full or part time. 


Conference Grants

Grants of up to $250 to help defray the cost of MLA membership or attending our annual conference are available to those with a demonstrated need. 


MLA Loan Program

Interest-free loans of up to $2,000 are available to those pursuing a graduate degree in library sciences or professional development coursework on a full or part-time basis.Loans may be used to defray the costs of tuition, supplies, room & board, or other related educational expenses. 


Support for MLA Financial Aid Programs

Our scholarship, grant and loan programs are dependent upon donations to the fund. Support Maine libraries by supporting Maine Library staff. Contribute today!
