Preparing for Maine Library Legislative Day (MLLD) at the Maine State House doesn’t have to be overwhelming! Lori Fisher (Maine State Librarian) and Sonya Durney (MLA President & Librarian @ the University of New England) will host two ZOOM conversations to empower library advocates to take part in MLLD and share the awesome impact that libraries make in Maine.

Hopefully you were able to join us for the Legislative Day 101 session on January 24th. This second discussion will provide space for you to share your experiences from MLLD and we will walk you through best practices for following up to strengthen those relationships.

Remember, effective advocacy is an ongoing process. Building relationships with legislators and staying engaged with the legislative process beyond the advocacy day is essential for long-term success.

  • After your advocacy day, send follow-up emails or letters expressing gratitude for the meeting, reiterating key points, and offering additional information if needed.

Please reach out to Amy Stone, Legislative Advocacy Group Chair (advocacy@mainelibraries.org) with any questions.

You will receive a zoom link with your confirmation email.
