Legislative Day 101

Registration is closed

Preparing for Maine Library Legislative Day at the Maine State House doesn't have to be overwhelming! Lori Fisher (Maine State Librarian) and Sonya Durney (MLA President & Librarian @ the University of New England) will host two ZOOM conversations to empower library advocates to take part in MLLD and share the awesome impact that libraries make in Maine.

MLLD serves as a unique opportunity to connect with legislators, share stories, network with peers, and strengthen the library community's collective impact. Join these ZOOM conversations to ensure you are ready to advocate!

Join this facilitated discussion offering insights and strategies for effective advocacy and receive guidance on maximizing impact when meeting with legislators. This session will include guidance on:

  • Understanding the issues
  • Understanding your audience
  • Developing clear messages
  • Getting your advocacy materials ready
  • Gathering your stories

Ready to schedule an appointment with your elected officials? Contact their office and be flexible with your schedule.

Need some help setting up an appointment, have any questions on this session or MLLD? Reach out to Amy Stone, MLA Legislative Advocacy Group Chair (advocacy@mainelibraries.org).

You will receive a zoom link with your confirmation email.
