Personal Membership - who are entitled to full membership benefits, including but not limited to voting rights, newsletters and discounts at Association events and meetings.
Library Membership - This is a bundled membership available to libraries in Maine who wish to cover all their staff members under a single invoice. Libraries must register all professional and support staff who work directly with their collections and programs to be eligible, and to enable those staff members to receive the same entitlements and discounts on MLA events and programs that are part of personal membership. Libraries must also designate a bundle administrator who will receive the annual renewal notice and be responsible for processing the invoice for payment and editing the library's member list.
Business Membership - Businesses are invited to join MLA as business members and are entitled to a single copy of newsletters but have no voting rights and receive no discounts at Association events and meetings.
MLA / NELA (New England Library Association) Bundle - When joining for the first time, or renewing a MLA membership, you now
have the option to add a discounted 1-year NELA membership for just $20
($15 for students and retirees). For individuals earning $25,000/year or
more, this is at least a 50 percent savings- and NELA membership will
also get you a discount on registration for their annual conference. Please note it can take up to six weeks for NELA membership to be activated.
Interest Groups - MLA also offers members several Interest Group options so they can share specific interests. Theses are the current interest groups:
Phyllis E. Ainsworth Memorial Fund
The membership form also provides an opportunity to contribute to the Phyllis E. Ainsworth Memorial Fund. Contribution to this fund provide a scholarship each year to a deserving student of library and information science.
