Keynote Speakers will include:

Linda Lord, State Librarian - Lunch on Thursday, October 7

Lynne Richards, MBA, Leading Generations - Bridging the Gap: Successfully Managing the Multigenerational Workforce - Dinner on Thursday, October 7

"Young people today have no work ethic!"  "The over-the-hill crowd is clueless."  "Workaholics?  Get a life!"  There is a new face to workplace diversity, it's called age-diversity.  Elders, Boomers, Xers and Millenials share different values and work styles that present new challenges in the workplace.  Learn practical solutions and insights for bridging and overcoming these generational differences.  Learn what working environment capitalizes on the strengths of generational diversity, and discuss practical strategies for making the multigenerational workforce work.  Discussions will include predominant traits, work values and key messages to keep in mind when communicating, resolving conflicts and working effectively in today's multigenerational workforce.

Jim Campbell, Modular Media - Breakfast on Friday, October 8

“You Have Zero Privacy Anyway: Get Over It.” Those are the words of Scott McNealy, then the CEO of Sun Microsystems, when asked about privacy on the Internet ten years ago.  Is his view back then really true in today’s Digital Age? Do we really all live in “electronic glass houses?” Does Google know more about us than our neighbors and relations - and maybe even ourselves? Is the Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution effectively dead? Is our location really trackable any time of the day or night? If so, does anyone care any more?  We’ll discuss what corporations and the government (and our cell phone and Internet providers) know about us and our personal lives, and what privacy means - or doesn’t mean - in today’s Digital Age for us, and for our patrons (whether they happen to be in our libraries or not).

Michael Sullivan, teacher, librarian, chess instructor, author, storyteller, expert on boys and reading - Breaking All The Rules - Lunch on Friday, October 8

Which is more important, the way we have always done things, or the person standing before your circulation desk? Think carefully, the future of your library may depend on your answer. One library maverick will challenge every assumption about public libraries. Hold on tight; this will be a ride.
