The mission of the Communications Committee is to publicize and support Maine Library Association activities including:

Goals

To publicize and support statewide legislative efforts on behalf of all types of libraries.
To support efforts of the membership committee of the Maine Library Association.
To cooperate with the Regional Library System's publicity efforts.
To support other MLA committees and sections with their public relations effort.
To manage the MLA website.

Objectives

To award the MLA Outstanding Librarian Award
To produce a brochure for the MLA.
To publicize conferences ahead of time and after the fact outside the library press.
To inform the District PR committees of generic PR ideas which come to our attention.
To produce non-copyright generic clip art for publication in MAINE ENTRY on an occasional basis.
To coordinate individual libraries' TV and radio coverage by encouraging them to notify other members of their efforts through notices in the MLA newsletter.

Additionally, the Communications Committee currently oversees the important Outstanding Librarian Award. They would love to hear from you if you would like to nominate a worthy recipient.
